With Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 becoming an all-time blockbuster, filmmakers who were popular in the 90s are planning to turn their cult blockbusters into a franchise. After JP Dutta's Border 2 news, we got to know that director Subhash Ghai is planning to make a sequel to his 1993 blockbuster, Sanjay Dutt-starrer Khal Nayak.

Recently Ghai expressed his views on the possibility of a sequel for Sanjay Dutt-starrer Khal Nayak. As News18 reported, when Ghai was asked about the same he said, “We have iconic films like Karma, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, these films are still relevant. Now, in Khal Nayak, if Ballu Balram comes on screen, how will that be? Then why should any producer not think of reviving and move the story ahead? So, definitely, Khal Nayak and other films are being discussed." Ghai further said that they have offers from other studios, but they are very commercial, wherein his team is thinking about how to better what they already have.

Earlier today, director-producer JP Dutta expressed to make Border 2 with Sunny Deol. As per the report of Pinkvilla, the story for Border 2 was ready in the past few years, and currently, the producers are in talks to bring a major studio backing the project. The portal quoted a source that said, "Border is among the most historic blockbusters of Indian Cinema and is easily a film that warrants a part two. The team has been discussing the probability of making a Border sequel for the last 2 to 3 years and everything has now finally fallen into place as the team is all set to make an official announcement of Border 2 in a fortnight." The source further added that the makers have identified a tale from the 1971 Indo-Pak war that is untold, and they are planning to adapt it for the big screen.
