'Let me surprise you': Atlee to release different cut of Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay Sethupathi's Jawan on OTT

Jawan director Atlee revealed that he is planning to release a different cut of Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi's film Jawan on OTT.

Shah Rukh Khan’s film Jawan which also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi has broken many box office records. The film, directed by Atlee, has already earned Rs 700 crore worldwide. In a new interview, the director revealed that he will be releasing a different cut on OTT.

While speaking to PinkVilla, Atlee said, “I think we’ve given the right ration of emotions, the right length to theatrical. For OTT, we are considering a different rhythm to it. So, yeah, of course, we are working on something so that’s why I didn’t go on my holiday. I’m working on something. Let’s see. Let me surprise you all.”

On being asked if he is planning a sequel as the film has an open ending, Atlee said, “Every film of mine has such kind of ending. I never had a thought of doing a sequel to any of the films. But I have given an open heart to it. So, if something strong comes to me, definitely I’ll come up with that. As of now, I’ve just kept it very open. I can come up with a sequel, later. But definitely, I’ll come.”

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan broke several records on day 1 of its release. The film went on to be the highest opening for a Bollywood film and collected a net of Rs 75 crore on day 1. Now, within 9 days of its release, the movie has surpassed Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 collection of Rs 675.9 crore worldwide by collecting Rs 725 crore worldwide at the box office.

While Jawan is still behind Gadar 2 in terms of India Net collection. Sunny Deol’s film has collected Rs 517.28 crore in 5 weeks whereas Shah Rukh Khan’s film has collected Rs 408.98 crore in 9 days and continues to run strong at the box office. On the 9th day, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan collected Rs 19.1 crore at the box office out of which Hindi contributed 18.1 crore, Tamil 0.41 crore, and Telugu language 0.59 crore.
