Karan Johar lashes out at a troll asking him to bring home daughter-in-law for his mother's 'timepass'.
Karan Johar often has to face social media scrutiny and has been quite candid about how trolls affect him on his show, Koffee with Karan, however, the filmmaker gives it back to the trolls with his witty replies. The filmmaker recently took to his social media to hit back at a troll asking him to bring a daughter-in-law home for his mother's 'timepass'.
On Thursday, Karan Johar took to his Instagram and lashed out a troll who asked him to bring a daughter-in-law home for his mother's 'timepass'. The filmmaker penned a long note slamming the 'most offensive' comment and said, "Of all the crazy trolls, the abuse and judgment I get about my life choices and my way of being I find comments like these offensive." He further highlighted how daughters-in-law have their own identities and they shouldn’t be a ‘time pass’ for anyone and added, "a bahu is a label that comes with ridiculous regressive baggage."
He further added, "My mother co-parents my children with me and doesn’t need any “time pass”...her life is complete by the love we receive from her and do our best to give it back with all our heart! And bringing in a “bahu” is not an option to whoever is concerned about my relationship status! My children are blessed to have my mother guide us all…" He further made it clear that if he would have a life partner, it would be on his own terms and wrote, "If I were to have a life partner I would do so to fill my void and not anyone else’s!"
Karan Johar recently made his directorial comeback with the movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani which starred Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh, and Jaya Bachchan among others in key roles. The film went on to collect over Rs 300 crore at the box office worldwide and became a commercial hit. He is currently hosting the popular celeb talk show Koffee With Karan 8. After Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt Kareena Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra, Aditya Roy Kapur, Arjun Kapoor, the latest celeb to grace his couch are Saif Ali Khan and Sharmila Tagore.
Meanwhile, he is awaiting the release of his upcoming production, Yodha starring Sidharth Malhotra, Raashii Khanna, and Disha Patani. The action thriller film is directed by Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha and is scheduled to release in theatres on March 15, 2024.
