Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said a detailed inquiry would be conducted into the recent Chharanagar violence, and assured that action would be taken against any erring cops.
Rupani assured a delegation of Chhara community that had gone to meet him to complain about the police excesses during the intervening night of July 26 and 27. DNA photographer Pravin Indrekar, who was clicking photographs of the violence, was also assaulted by the cops. Three victims of the violence were among those who met the CM on Tuesday.
"We apprised the CM about how our community is frequently targeted by police. We also told him the manner in which police had forcibly entered several homes, and assaulted innocent people. We have sought dismissal of the erring police, and CM assured that appropriate action will taken against erring police persons," one of the members said.
