Ahmedabad boy bags 2nd position, silver medal in Science Olympiad

A student from Ahmedabad has bagged an international rank in National Science Olympiad, a science competition for students from classes 1-12 conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation.

Aalay Shah, a class 12 student of Shiv Ashish School scored second international rank and bagged a silver medal along with Rs 25,000 as prize money.

Over 45,000 schools from 1,400 cities across 30 countries participated in the 6th SOF Olympiad exams during 2017-18 and around 88,247 students had participated from Ahmedabad.

Speaking about Aalay's success mantra, Niral Shah, his mother said, "Aalay focussed only on one NCERT syllabus and since his concept was clear, he aced it. We are now waiting for JEE advance results as he wants to study computer engineering from IIT. This rank will help him a lot during admissions internationally."

Aalay scored 95% in class 12 CBSE exams.

SOF had organized a felicitation function to recognize and award the international winning students, teachers and principals of Olympiad exams held during 2017-18. During the function, the top 3 SOF international rank holders from classes 1 to 12 for the 6 Olympiad exams conducted by SOF were awarded.

A total of six students from Gujarat were ranked. Apart from Aalay, Rajvardhan Singh Gahlaut and Dhyani Anadkat from Rajkot, Aadit Bhagade and Anish Singh from Vadodara, Mahit Gahdiwala from Surat were ranked.

The award ceremony was held at the India Habitat Centre auditorium in Delhi and Minister of State for Law and Justice and The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, PP Choudhary was the chief guest.
