The United Nations (UN) official heading the fight against Ebola in West Africa has reportedly admitted that he does not yet have the resources necessary to defeat the epidemic.

While speaking at the UN headquarters for Ebola response in Ghana at the end of a regional tour, Tony Banbury said that there are still villages, people, towns and areas that are not getting any kind of help right now. He added that more help was required "urgently" despite significant contributions from the United States, China, Cuba and the United Kingdom, reported the BBC.

Branbury said that he wants to achieve 70% bed space for new cases and 70% safe burials by December.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates, the Ebola death toll now stands at 4,818.
