'KBC 12' has taken an interesting turn as audiences will now witness the show's second crorepati in the form of IPS officer Mohita Kumar. The win raises a question - can civil employees participate in the show? The answer to that is - depends on the department the person is working in.
Most government employees do not participate in the show because they are unable to devote the time the show demands out of them. However, a few do end up participating and winning a certain amount. Mohita is by far the first among the lot to win a crore.
Mohita would be declared the second crorepati on 'KBC 12' on November 17. A few government employees have participated in the show before her - a few after struggling, while some others without putting in too much of an effort.
2017 was an interesting year for civil employees. Two such names gained much popularity during 'KBC 9'. They were Anuradha Agarwal and Dr Vinay Goyal.
Physically challenged trainee deputy collector Anuradha had undergone some trouble to participate in the show after the general administration department (GAD) of the Chhattisgarh government had denied permission for her to participate on the show. She was working in Mungeli district. Eventually, Anuradha won Rs. 15 lakh and even encashed it.
Dr Vinay Goyal, an IAS officer from Kerala cadre, took home Rs. 12.5 lakhs. He was posted as an Assistant Collector of Thrissur back then. Dr Goyal decided the quit the game on the 13th question, which was about Sports. Back then, he had expressed his desire to spend the money on helping students from economically backward societies. Vinay was a practising doctor and has an MBBS degree before he chose to work in civil services.
Manish Narayan, a sanitation worker at Ambernath Municipality Corporation, had participated in 'KBC 10' and won Rs. 12,50,000. In fact, back in 'KBC 4', a city-based government employee and electrical engineer Mayank Trivedi participated on the show and won Rs. 25 lakhs.
The civil employees, like other participants, enter the show through the normal registration method - by answering the questions through SMS during the 'registration period'. The fastest ones then get to enter the show and be part of 'fastest finger first', and the winners from there then get to be on the 'hot seat', opposite the host Amitabh Bachchan.
