Torres started his career with Atletico Madrid, progressing through their youth system to the first team. He made his debut in 2001 and went onto score 75 goals in 174 La Liga appearances. He then moved to Liverpool, where he spent four years. In 2011, Chelsea bought him for a whopping £50 million. His record for the country is also impressive. He is Spain's third-highest goal-scorer of all time. He took part in three Euro Championships and two World Cups. He was part of three major trophy-winning squads, and scored in the final of both Euro 2008 and Euro 2012. Teaming up with David Villa on the frontline, his form could be decisive in Spain retaining the crown.
