The city continues to experience hot days and cold nights as the maximum temperature is above normal while at night, it is below normal. India Meteorological Department has predicted a gradual rise in the maximum as well as minimum temperature in next two three days.

Pune recorded a maximum of 38.1 degree and minimum of 14.6 degree on Monday.

“This is seasonal rise in temperature. There are no conditions for cloud formation and hence, the sky is clear allowing solar radiation to heat the surface leading to rise in temperature during the day. At night, the temperature is still below normal because it is cooling rapidly due to lack of moisture,’’ explained Sunita Devi, director for weather.

However, the minimum temperature is likely to rise while the maximum temperature will remain above normal, she added.

At many places in the state, the temperatures have crossed 40 degrees. The minimum temperatures too are rising in rest of the state. The maximum temperature (41.7 degrees) in the state was recorded at Chandrapur on Monday.

“The maximum temperatures have gone up all over the state. It will be above normal for next two three days. In rest of the country too, the temperatures are high except for the northern states. However it is not a heat wave,’’ said Sunita Devi.
