The opposition has attacked Senior BJP minister Pankaja Munde after she made a controversial comment regarding changing the Indian constitution if BJP is voted of changing the Indian constitution if the BJP is voted again in power. Ms Munde made this comment at Ambejogai in Beed district while campaigning for her sister Pritam Munde who is pitted against NCP nominee Bajrang Sonawane in Beed Lok Sabha constituency.

Pankaja Munde said that "If the BJP is voted in power again, then they will change the constitution to bring a lot of new rules to benefit people and implement welfare schemes. " The controversial remark video clip of Pankaja Munde also went viral on social media.

The first salvo has come from Dhananjay Munde, Leader of Opposition, Legislative council and NCP who has stated that changing the constitution is not as easy as eating Chikki(referring to the rural development related scam) or doing the mobile scam. Dhananjay was also forefront in attacking Pankaja Munde over her alleged involvement in both the scams and had demanded a prove in both.

Pritam and Pankaja Munde, are daughters of the BJP stalwart late Gopinath Munde. Pritam Munde is contesting against NCP candidate Bajrang Sonawane but the real political on ground fight is between two cousins Pankaja Munde and Dhananjay Munde. In Lok Sabha polls, Dhananjay Munde had given a formidable challenge to the Munde sisters on their home turf. In 2014 Lok Sabha bypolls, after the demise of Gopinath Munde, Pritam won this bypoll by a record 6.96 lakh votes. While in ensuing Lok Sabha, cousin Dhananjay Munde is living no stone unturned to ensure his sister Pritam Munde loses the poll.

Other national leaders have also condemned Pankaja Munde's comment.

Dr Misa Bharti, leader of RJD and Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar has said, "Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar has given us the constitution and free speech, right of voting and elections. It is the constitution that empowered the BJP leader to get elected and speak freely. Now she wants to abuse it. The intention of BJP leaders is clear, they want to snatch the power from the backward class masses," tweeted Misa.

Meanwhile, NCP has planned to approach the election commission over Munde's comment. Pankaja Munde was not available for comment. BJP spokesperson Vinod Tawde was also not reachable.
