The wife of a police inspector was found murdered at her Santa Cruz (E) residence on Tuesday night. The inspector's son is missing and is the prime suspect in the murder, as a message in blood written besides the woman's body stated 'Tired of her, catch me and hang me'.

Deceased Deepali Ganore, 42, stayed with her husband Dnyaneshwar Ganore, 49, who is posted at Khar police station, and their 21-year-old son Siddhant, a first-year science student of National College, at AG Co-operative Housing Society in Prabhat Colony.

According to the Vakola police, Ganore reached home around 11pm on Tuesday and found the door auto-locked. He made several calls to his wife and son when nobody opened the door. Ganore assumed that Deepali and Siddhant must have gone out of home and waited at the security cabin of the society for them to return.

After a few hours when nobody returned and phone calls to Deepali and Siddhant remained unanswered, Ganore, who was part of the Sheena Bora murder case probe, again went to his third-floor flat and found the house keys kept in the shoe-rack around.

Ganore found Deepali lying in a pool of blood inside the bedroom and saw a blood-stained knife beside her. Her throat was slit. The blood-stained message 'Tired of her catch me and hang me' with a gory smiley was written close to the body. Clothes with stains of blood too were found near the body.

Siddhant is missing since the incident. His and Deepali's cellphones were found at their home. We are trying to open the locks of the phones to get leads on what had actually transpired and why," said a police officer.

"Siddhant was weak in studies and was reprimanded by his strict mother. There were restrictions on him. His social media accounts too were deleted by his mother. This frustrated him a lot and that could be one of the reasons behind the crime," the officer said.

The police are also probing if cash and valuables were missing from the house.

"CCTV footage of the building is being examined. Teams have been formed to trace Siddhant. Deepali's post-mortem was conducted at Cooper Hospital and the report is awaited," said, Mahadeo Wavale, Senior Police Inspector, Vakola police station.
