Congress, NCP will fight equal number of seats: Dhananjay Munde

He further says that since the inception of the NCP, the party has always won more seats in the Lok Sabha and state Assembly polls than the Congress

Dhananjay Munde, NCP MLC and the Leader of Opposition (LoP), Maharashtra State Legislative Council exclusively spoke to DNA on Friday and claimed that both the Congress and the NCP are likely to contest the equal numbers of seats in the Maharashtra state Assembly elections.

Munde was in DNA office to be part of the Newsmaker initiative by DNA. He exclusively spoke on various range of issue including his estranged relations with his sister and BJP minister, Pankaja Munde and BJP MP Pritam Munde. "The alliance talk with the Congress and other small like-minded parties are in progress. We have almost agreed on the numbers of seats that each party is going to contest in the state. The Congress and the NCP will contest on the equal number of seats," Munde said.

He further said that since the inception of the NCP, the party has always won more seats in the Lok Sabha and state Assembly polls than the Congress. "So the Congress cannot deny our strength. Therefore, the senior leadership of the Congress has agreed on the equal seat formula," Munde said.

When asked about the possibility of an alliance with Raj Thackeray led MNS, Munde said that there was meeting over this issue. "Opposition party wants to defeat the anti-people and fascist BJP and the Shiv Sena government, therefore, we have to give one against one candidate. The secular and anti-government votes should not get divided. Therefore, we are requesting the Prakash Ambedkar-led Bahujan Vanchit Aghadi to be part of this Maha Aghadi against the BJP," Munde informed.
