Chicken pizza has veg doctor fuming

All hell broke loose at Andheri's Pop Tates Restaurant after a 36-year-old Santacruz doctor was served chicken pizza instead of vegetarian paneer pizza. The doctor learnt about the restaurant's negligence allegedly after eating the chicken pizza. The Amboli police had to intervene to calm down the situation at the restaurant and are now probing the case.

Dr. Nilay Shah, on Valentines Day, had visited Pop Tates restaurant in Lokhandwala at Andheri West with his friends and ordered a large Paneer Tikka Pizza. Being a pure vegetarian, Shah was taken aback when he finished eating a piece of pizza only to understand that the pizza did not have a taste of paneer in it.

"I called out the waiter and checked with him about the pizza which i was served by him. He confirmed that it was chicken pizza and when i called out for the bill i found that it had a mention of paneer pizza which i had mentioned.", said Shah.

"I was fuming at the manager and soon my friends dialed the police the police control room and we were asked to accompany them at Amboli police station. It was the first time that i was made to eat non-vegetarian food which is hurting my religious sentiments. I have given a written statement to the police and have asked them to register the First Information Report", said Shah.

Bharat Gaikwad, Senior Inspector, Amboli police station, "We have received the complaint and we are investigating the matter. We have enquired with the staffers and manager of the restaurant."

Siddhant Kuwalekar, the manager of Pop Tates (Lokhandwala), said, "We were apologetic to the customer that we served him chicken pizza instead of veg pizza. The customer had also consumed alcohol in the restaurant and later created ruckus inside the restaurant after which he had complained to police."
