Last week you read about a quarry in Marol that has been converted into a sprawling mini-rainforest called Bharatvan. This week, we take you into (what is now) the corporate headquarters of Mumbai—a Mindspace at Malad.
A 11-acre campus that was home to the city's dumping ground is today a visual delight to the executives working here as well as the residents of the area, thanks to the efforts put in by the BMC in association with the Raheja Ground.

"The park houses more than 2,000 trees of more than 100 varieties including ficus and bamboo. We have stuck to plants that are native to the area so that their acceptance by the soil is good thereby promoting their growth," says one of the gardeners fondly referred to as 'Mama'. The joggers track is lined with flowering plants on one side and bamboo clusters on the other. The track ensconces within itself a sprawling lawn, perfect for those looking to just relax or play with their children. In addition to these features, a tiny bridge built over a small water body adds to the charm of the space—an instant hit with the kids.

"This is a great effort. I come here for some me-time; I like to go around the spacious joggers track," says Goregaon-based Anjali Cerejo, a regular at the park, "They have maintained it well too, turning it into a favourite with the health-conscious people, senior citizens, friends catching up after a hard day at work and of course couples looking for a calm place to spend time with each other."

Open between 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then between 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the park charges a meagre Rs. 5 for individuals above the age of five to seven years. 'Never give for free what you value' seems to be the mantra that works well with this green hub. So, the next time you are at InOrbit Mall with your little one, take some time out to drop by the garden next door to ensure her weekly date with nature.
