Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will roll up their sleeves to take up work on the Charkop-Dahisar route.

A senior official said the MMRDA is likely to take up work on the 7.8km-long corridor from Charkop to Dahisar for around Rs1,700 crore. "This will help provide better connectivity in the western suburbs," said the official. A detailed project report on it is ready.

Another official involved in the exercise said apart from being linked with the second, 31.87km-long Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro railway line, which has already been approved, this route could also be connected to the proposed 18km-long Andheri (E)-Dahisar (E) line.

Work on this 33.5km-long line is expected to begin next year. The corridor, expected to cost about Rs24,430 crore, will have 27 stations and it’ll be completely underground and wind its way to SEEPZ from Colaba via Bandra-Kurla Complex.
