Erica Robin, Karachi-based model has become the first ever "Miss Universe Pakistan". She is now all set to represent Pakistan in Miss Universe Pageant to be held in El Salvador later this year. Erica Robin competed against fellow contestants Hira Inam, Jessica Wilson, Malika Alvi and Sabrina Wasim.

She shared a heartful caption on her Instagram. Miss Universe wrote, “I am honoured and humbled to be the first ever Miss Universe Pakistan and I want to highlight the beauty of Pakistan. We have a beautiful culture that the media is not talking about. Pakistani people are very generous, kind and hospitable. On top of that, I would like to invite everyone to visit my country and try the most sumptuous Pakistani cuisines and explore our enchanting nature, our snow-capped mountains, our greeneries and our progressive landscapes.”

Erica Robin was born on September 14, 1999, in Karachi, Pakistan. For her early education, she went to St. Patrick's Girls High School and continued her academic journey at the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration in Chandigarh.

She began her career in modeling in January 2020. She made her first appearance in DIVA magazine Pakistan in July 2020. Robin also had a job experience in an IT consulting firm as an assistant manager. Ms Robin has been a part of various commercials and fashion shoots in Pakistan such as Khaadi, Zara Shahjahan, Sania Maskatiya, Elan, and Sana Safinaz.

Her success was celebrated by many, but it also raised a conflict among orthodox forces, who questioned her participation in an official capacity without having any official approval from Pakistan authorities.

According to a Hindustan report, religious scholar Taqi Usmani was one of the first to express disapproval and demanded action against the in charge of the pageant. He also insisted that any notion the women were 'representing Pakistan' be refuted.

However, many people found this level of official inspection of something as small as a beauty pageant offensive. Many came forward to criticise the government for making such a fuss about this small thing.
