Despite being nearly 20 years old now, the Harry Potter series is still a major draw today for adults and children alike. Not only have the subsequent movies done very well at the box office, but new editions of the books, with either new covers or illustrations, also tend to sell well. It's here then where we introduce some of the finest Harry Potter cover art we've seen to date.

Artist Olly Moss posted these images to official fan website Pottermore and the community went gaga over the beautiful illustrations. The minimalist designs feature the view of Hogwarts castle from across the Black Lake, while also carrying subtle hints to the book's narrative and events for each individual cover.

Moss says he's a big fan of 1950s designs, and wanted to bring that out in his artwork. "It just seemed like a natural fit," he told Pottermore. "I really liked the idea of Harry getting on a train and going somewhere exciting every year. There is something very British about that."

The designs are being adopted as official cover art for the German version of the Potter audiobooks, but fans can also purchase the posters separately from Moss' website for one week only. So, if you could only buy one, which should it be? Moss himself is hard pressed to pick a favourite, but eventually settles on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. "I think it's the one with the palette which most mimics the style of the old posters. It seems the most authentic to me, which is what I was going for," he says.
