An action plan is being worked out to handle the rising footfall at the Jaipur Airport. For the same, a new terminal building will be added to the already existent terminal 1 and terminal 2 to ensure smooth passenger flow that has been on a rise since last few years. If this building comes into operation, the airport will be seven times the current infrastructure.
Sources said that a consultant has been appointed for the work and tender documents are being prepared and after this tender will be issued. All the planning work has been done with and on ground the work will take form from January.

As per the report issued by airport authority, in the month of June last year 3,28,658 passengers visited Jaipur Airport while the number shot up to 4,29,920 in June this year showing an increase of 30 per cent. It is expected that the passenger rush will further increase in the coming years as Jaipur’s connectivity with other cities will come into play.
Currently, the existing working terminal 2 caters to the passengers of both International and domestic airlines and particularly during the morning time there is a huge rush seen inside the terminal building. The passengers have to wait in long queues at check-in counters and congestion in lobby and waiting hall area is an usual business.
The terminal 1, better known as old terminal, is currently closed and only Haj flights are being operated from here while there are plans to start the international flights from here. For this, the renovation work will be started in the end of September, said the sources.
