In what comes as yet another incident of unlikely couples entering the bond of marriage, a policewoman and a convicted murderer and gangster in Greater Noida have tied the wedding knot after a curious love affair that began across lockup bars.

According to reports, the 30-year-old gangster, Rahul Thasrana, met Payal, a cop, in 2014 after he was arrested in connection with the murder of a local businessman called Manmohan Goyal. Thasrana was a history-sheeter with a criminal record of earlier burglary and murder cases, and Payal was a policewoman posted at the Gautam Buddh Nagar police station.

The two reportedly met at the court compound while proceedings for Thasrana's criminal case for illegal possession of arms was underway at the District Court at Surajpur in Greater Noida. According to police records, they kept meeting each other even after the proceedings ended and Thasrana kept being in and out of jail. Reports indicate that as soon as the gangster was finally out on bail, the two married each other and went off to live in an undisclosed location to avoid unwanted complications.

Even personnel at the Gautam Buddh Nagar police station, where Payal was posted, were reported to be clueless about the couple's whereabouts. Superintendent of Police (SP) - Rural, Ranvijay Singh, said that the police were looking through records of the female constable to verify her details. He added that once Payal's details have been verified, action will be taken against her.
