Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday gave up the Vadodara Lok Sabha seat and retained the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday gave up the Vadodara Lok Sabha seat and retained the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.

"I have resigned from Vadodara seat. Due to people's affection got elected by historic margin. I will always remain grateful to people of Vadodara," Modi tweeted.

"I assure people of Vadodara that I will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that Vadodara's development scales newer heights in the years to come. I will represent Varanasi in Lok Sabha and I look forward to this wonderful opportunity to serve Ganga Maa & work for Varanasi's development," he further tweeted.

In the Lok Sabha elections, Modi had contested from both Varanasi and Vadodara, and had apparently defeated his opponents by huge margins.
