President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday received the first copy of a book on India's first president Dr Rajendra Prasad titled Remembering Baba – Dr Rajendra Prasad on the latter's birth anniversary here.

"Rajen Babu was a brilliant student and alumni of Calcutta University. He was not just the topper but also received record marks in his exams. Born in 1935, I never had a chance to meet Rajen Babu who was already President of the Indian National Congress," President Mukherjee said, while receiving the book from Dr Karan Singh at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and formally releasing it.

"I continue to use the writing table used by Dr Rajendra Prasad in his personal study and have decided that it should be moved to the Museum after I complete my term," he added.

Earlier in the day, President Mukherjee paid floral tributes to Dr Prasad in the Durbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Compiled by the family of the former president, the coffee-table book describes Dr Rajendra Prasad's roots, his years in New Delhi and the time he spent post-retirement.
