Raising questions on Modi's silence, Omar tweeted, "What does it say about our Hon PM that Sidhu's DVT (blood clot) got more attention from him that #Ikhlaq's cold blooded murder did!!!!" Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished former cricketer speedy recovery, who is undergoing treatment for acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
Taking to micro blogging site, Modi said, "Dear @sherryontopp ji, get well soon. You are a fighter & will overcome the illness in your trademark style. Our prayers are with you."
Sidhu had earlier tweeted a picture of himself from the hospital, saying that he was 'down but not out'.
On September 29, Mohmad Akhlaq was dragged out of his home and stoned to death on a village street after a public announcement from the local temple that the family had slaughtered a calf and eaten its meat.
Noted write Nayantara Sahgal and poet Ashok Vajpeyi have also returned the prestigious 'Sahitya Akademi' awards protesting against muzzling of dissent in the country and silence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She said that "Modi is a politician who knows how to speak. He has given long speeches. On twitter and other social media he is vocal. He should be responsible for (what is happening) in the country."
Samajwadi Party(SP) leader Abu Azmi also questioned Modi's silence, saying that even politicians under his nose are involved in fomenting unrest and creating communal tension in the country.
