In his speech PM Modi said that the World Economic Forum would be relieved to know that in the time to come many more vaccines would come from India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the World Economic Forum's online Davos Agenda Summit. Modi said, "Amid apprehensions, I have come before you with a message of confidence, positivity and hope for the world on behalf on more than 1.3 billion Indians."
Touching on the COVID pandemic and how India dealt with the global issue, Modi said that India was among the few nations that managed to save the most lives during the pandemic. This comes a week after India started the world's largest vaccination drive.
"In these tough times, India has been undertaking its global responsibility from the beginning. When airspace was closed in many countries, India took more than 1 lakh citizens to their countries & delivered essential medicines to more than 150 countries," PM Modi said at the Summit.
Modi said that right now there were two made in India vaccines. He said that the World Economic Forum would be relieved to know that in the time to come many more vaccines would come from India. Modi added that in just 12 days, India has vaccinated more than 2.3 million healthcare workers. In coming few months, India would achieve its target of vaccinating 300 million elderly people and people with comorbidities.
PM Narendra Modi said, "India is saving the lives of people in many other countries of the world by sending COVID vaccines and developing the necessary infrastructure for the vaccination."
In his speech Modi said that Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan was committed towards global good and global supply chain. India has the capacity, capability and reliability to strengthen the global supply chain.
Modi said, "India launched 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' with the resolve of increasing the capacity of our economy. India made one reform after the other to provide a high growth trajectory to economy in this decade. These reforms were long awaited."
The prime minister said that it is estimated that the infrastructure needs of the country would be around 4.5 trillion dollars by 2040. "I believe that Govt & industry would have to achieve this goal in unison. Govt is continuously working towards providing stable environment & all help," Modi said.
