Delhi Pradesh Congress Chief and former CM Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday made it clear that they will not be going into an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Dikshit's categorical assertion comes even as several sources speculated that Congress is rethinking its option regarding seat-sharing with Kejriwal's party in Delhi. However, Dikshit said that an unanimous decision has been taken.

Delhi CM Kejriwal on several occasions has gone on record to say that Congress have spurned their seat-sharing proposal. Finally the party on Saturday last week announced its candidates for Lok Sabha six seats in Delhi and accused the grand old party of turning down its proposal for a tie-up.

With a growing perception that BJP is gaining ground again politically in the highly surcharged atmosphere, some Congress leaders believed that an alliance with AAP wouldn't be a bad idea. According to sources, Rahul Gandhi called senior leaders Ajay Maken and Sheila Dikshit to consult over this issue. However, Congress was looking for a 3-3 formula in Delhi, leaving another seat for likes of Yashwant Sinha. But AAP which got 67 out of 70 Assembly seats in 2015, is unwilling to give more than two seats to Congress.

In the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP recorded a clean sweep and both AAP and Congress failed to open their account in Delhi. Delhi has a trend of gifving very one-sided mandate in Lok Sabha polls and many pundits believe that in absence of any alliance, BJP has a very good chance of repeating their flawless 2014 performance in Delhi.

On Saturday Gopal  Rai announced AAP leader Atishi as candidate from east Delhi, Guggan Singh from northwest Delhi, Raghav Chadha from south, Dilip Pandey from northeast, Pankaj Gupta from Chandni Chowk and Brijesh Goyal from New Delhi seat.

The candidate for west Delhi will be announced soon, he said.
