The police station, currently housed in Thaltej Choky, will shift to its new location near Sai Mandir opposite Sal hospital on Drive-in road on November 4.

The staff members of the Vastrapur police station are all set for the inauguration of the new police station. "We are preparing for the inauguration ceremony of the new police station which is scheduled on November 4, 2009," a cop at the Vastrapur police station told DNA.

This will be the second police station to be inaugurated by the Gujarat police after the Naroda police station. "The new building of Naroda police station was inaugurated last Friday," the cop said. The city police recently shifted many police stations, Maninagar, Ramol, Danilimda, Isanpur and few others, from the old buildings to the newly constructed ones.

This apart, city police inaugurated the new building for the office of joint commissioner of police, Sector 2.

Moreover, the city police have also geared up to set new jurisdiction of Ellisbridge and Vejalpur Police station to form Vasna police station, while parts of Satellite and Vastrapur police station will be divided to form new Anandnagar police station. These police stations are expected to come into being within the next six months," said the cop.

"The population in Prahaladnagar and Anandnagar is increasing at an alarming rate, so a new police station will be formed here soon," a police source said.
This besides, the Juhapura area under the Vejalpur police station also needs more police personnel, so a part of the Vejalpur police station will be carved out to form the Vasna police station.
