Former Union minister and Congress MP, Shashi Tharoor, has said the international airport at nearby Nedumbassery should be named after the late Congress leader K Karunakaran.
Karunakaran was instrumental in converting the country's first airport to be constructed on a PPP basis into a reality.
Tweeting in his blog, Tharoor said .. ' In celebrating the leader's life, I call for Nedumbassery aiport in Kochi to be renamed Karunakaran International in honour of the man who made it'.
In another tweet, he said that the statue of Karunakaran should be set ip in the assembly complex, an honour worthy of a three-time chief minister.
Correction, December 25, 2010: Shashi Tharoor was earlier wrongly referred to as a Union minister.
