In the last month, India has witnessed two pre-teen heroes. One was Zen, a girl due to her quick thinking, managed to save several lives after a building caught fire in Mumbai's Parel area.

The second story is of 11-year-old Kamal Kishore Das, who pulled three women, including his mother and aunt, to safety after their boat capsized in Brahmaputra, the Times of India reported.

Unfortunately the third woman he saved - a stranger - dived back into the water after she saw her baby getting pulled by the current. The river current pulled her  as well, the report added. Both mother and child were reported dead.

The incident occurred when the engine of the boat developed a snag and hit a rock near the bank of the Ashwaklanta Temple around 2 pm, he said.

Only 22 passengers had valid tickets and the boat was overcrowded, with 18 motorcycles on it, people who were supervising the rescue operations at the site, said.

According to eyewitnesses, there were several women and children among the passengers.
