The Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has jumped into the fray and claimed it would ensure that the release of the movie in Maharashtra was smooth.

Maharashtra Minister of for Home Deepak Kesarkar told media persons that it is responsibility of the Home department to provide adequate security for incident-free release of the film.
He said that his department would provide security and has already in contact with theatre owners in the state in this regard.
However, despite the Supreme Court verdict in favor of Padmaavat, the movie made by Sanjay Leela Bhansali which is set to release, Maharashtra Minister for Tourism Jaikumar Rawal has appealed against watching it.
Rawal spoke to media persons at at Mantralaya on Tuesday and appealed that people don’t watch it. When asked as to was it fair on his part as a minister to appeal so, Rawal said, in addition to being a minister, he is a human being and would not like anyone to watch a distortion of history.
Kesarkar said that if at all Minister Jaikumar Rawal has said anything in this regard, he has right to have personal opinion since he hails from the Rajput community. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had taken a stand of not interfering even during the controversy.
