Poll strategist and JD(U) vice president Prashant Kishor on Tuesday met Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai, reportedly to discuss strategy for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

According to sources, Mr Kishore gave a presentation to Mr Thackery on issues that Shiv Sena can take to people in 2019 polls.

Besides Uddhav, some other top Sena office bearers attended the meeting at Matoshri.

The meeting lasted for over one and a half hours. Sources said Kishor gave a presentation to Sena leaders on issues that may get the support of the people ion the upcoming polls.

Shiv Sena's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said it was just a courtesy meeting and party's strategy was not discussed between the two leaders.

"This was a courtesy meeting. JD(U) is a part of NDA just like the Shiv Sena. A discussion took place which will go forward," Raut said.

The senior Shiv Sena leader added that strategy was not discussed on the meeting as the party forms its own poll strategy.

He added that there was a meeting of party MPs where the upcoming election was discussed.

Sena MPs and Kishore left from the back door after the meeting.

Uddhav Thackeray chaired a meeting today with 21 MPs and senior leaders to assess their views on a possible pre-poll alliance with the BJP in Maharashtra for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

This is the second meeting after January 28 in which Thackeray sought information from MPs and leaders especially with regard to their own preparations to go solo or in the event of working together with BJP.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis last week said the BJP does want a pact with Shiv Sena but was not desperate for the tie-up.

For BJP, an alliance with Shiv Sena is important as Maharashtra has the second largest pool (48) of Lok Sabha seats. BJP hopes that allying with Shiv Sena will help to weather anti-incumbency and strongly take on Congress-NCP combined in the state.
