Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) on Saturday (December 25) showed slight improvement from Friday at 398. It was 400 the previous day. Even as this marks a slight shift, pollutants continue to disrupt the air.

As informed by the air quality and weather bulletin, “The air quality is likely to improve further but remain in the `very poor` category on December 25 and 26”. The bulletin’s outlook for the next five days hints at slight improvement in air quality from December 27 as AQI is expected to touch the ‘poor/moderate’ category.

According to health experts, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 `moderate`, 201 and 300 `poor`, 301 and 400 `very poor`, and between 401 and 500 is considered `severe`.

The level of PM10 and PM2.5 pollutants remained in the ‘very poor’ category.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) data stated the city’s maximum and minimum temperatures at 23 and 7 degrees Celsius at 9 am on Saturday.

The national capital’s relative humidity stood at 95 per cent at 8:30 am.

If IMD predictions are believed, Delhi might witness light rain or drizzle from December 26 to 28. December 26 will remain generally cloudy with light rain as per the forecast. Also, a cloudy sky with light rain is expected on December 27. The department has announced that December 28 might bring in rain or thunderstorm.
