The much awaited extension of Delhi Blue Line will be completed by December this year, according to Moneycontrol.com. Citing sources in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, the website says that the work for the six elevated stations will be done by December this year and will be open for public use. The stations are Sector 34, Sector 52, Sector 61, Sector 59, Sector 62 and Electronic City.

In May this year, The Cabinet had approved the extension of Metro rail network from Noida City Centre to Noida Sector 62. Union Minsiter Ravi Shankar Prasad made the formal announcement, though work had started way before it. The new line will be the extension of the Dwarka-Noida City Centre corridor on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro with an investment of Rs 1,967 crore with Centre paying around Rs 340.60 crore. The total stretch is  6.675 km long and it will provide transport facilities to a large number of people living in Noida besides catering to residents of nearby areas of Ghaziabad.

The project was expected to finish by September 2018 initially.  According to officials, with the Metro rail in place, there will be less vehicular traffic on roads leading to less congestion, less time and cost of the journey, less consumption of fossil fuel and less environmental pollution. Electronic City station is located at the Noida Ghaziabad border.
