Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, praised the Indian Army for handling the security situation along the border in eastern Ladakh well.

While addressing the Army Commanders’ Conference, the Defence Minister said that the government will take all necessary measures to strengthen the "arms of our armed forces".

India's combat readiness along the Line of Actual Control with China as well as the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is being reviewed by top army commanders at the four-day conference started on Monday.

Rajnath Singh took to Twitter and said that the army has always lived up to the expectations of safeguarding the security and sovereignty of the country since Independence. He also heaped accolades on the army for mitigating threats like terrorism and insurgency.

"Addressed the Army Commanders’ Conference in New Delhi today. I’m extremely proud of the initiatives undertaken by the Indian Army in the current security environment," the Defence Minister tweeted.

He further tweeted, "The Indian Army has been successful in addressing several challenges to the security and sovereignty of this country since Independence. Be it the problem of terrorism, insurgency or any external attack, the Army has played a significant role in neutralising those threats".

He vowed to provide the army with all possible help in order to make it even formidable an efficient.

"The Ministry of Defence is committed to facilitate the Army in their forward movement on road to reforms and help them in achieving advantages in all areas. We will leave no stone unturned to strengthen the arms of our Armed forces," he tweeted.

India and China are in a standoff at the Line of Actual Control since April. Several rounds of diplomatic and military talks have not yielded results in scaling down tensions. In fact, both the countries have made heavy deployment of troops along the LAC in Ladakh, the main friction point. Both the armies look prepared to take on the extreme winter chill of the region but are not ready to budge from their stands.
