At a time when the opposition parties are looking to join hands to form Mahagathbandhan in various states of the country, BJP too is trying to get its act together by finalising alliance talks with NDA partners. It has virtually sealed the seat-sharing deal for Lok Sabha pol in the crucial battleground state of Bihar, where it is currently in power with Nitish Kumar''s Janata Dal United (JDU).

According to sources, Amit Shah during his recent Bihar tour finalised the contours of seat sharing with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.  According to sources, out of 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar, BJP has 20 seats in their quota and JD(U) will have 20. But they also have to accomodate the smaller parties which are part of the NDA formation. So accordingly, Nitish Kumar will give 5 seats to Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP. BJP will give two seats to its junior ally RLSP. However, if RLSP decides to break away from the alliance, those seats will be divided between JD(U) and BJP.

As per initial talks, BJP will be contesting around 20 seats and JD(U) on 12 seats. Paswan's LJP will get 5-6 seats. Currently, BJP has 22 seats, but it is willing to sacrifice two seats for the sake of a strong alliance. The party is likely to concede Balmikinagar and Shivar seats to its allies. But it will contest from Bhagalpur where it lost last time round. Similarly, JD(U) will contest from Munger, where Nitish Kumar's relative Lalan Singh who lost in 2014 is expected to stand.

From Darbhanga, JD(U) will be contesting which is the seat of rebel BJP MP Kirti Azad.  It is believed that this timefrom  Madhubani, veteran leader Hukumdev Narayan Yadav will not contest the elections. His son will be given the ticket. Similarly, Bhola Singh will not be a candidate from Begusarai for health reasons. Even as Rahul Gandhi is busy trying to figure out the combinations for Mahagathbandhan, seems like BJP-JD(U) has already started getting battle ready.
