3 held for killing forest official in Tirunelveli district

Three persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of a forest official at his office in Sivagiri in this district, police said.

The armed gang had attacked the forest official, Murugesan (33) yesterday when he was talking with some of his colleagues, they said.

Though he tried to escape on seeing the trio on a two-wheeler, the men chased him and hacked him to death before escaping.

The three were arrested midnight last and remanded to judicial custody this morning, police said.
