A team of 42, comprising artists and crew members of a Bengali Tollywood film are stranded in Istanbul following the attempted military coup in Turkey on Saturday. Bengal’s Information and Technology minister Bratya Basu is also a part of the team that is stranded.

While the film's actors Mimi Chakraborty and Yash Dasgupta tweeted from Istanbul that they were all safe, director Birsa said that they will continue to shoot for the film as per the schedule. Actor Gourab Chakrabarty is also part of the team in Turkey.

“We were shooting when we heard news of the attempted military coup. The locals were all out on the streets. However, all of us are safe and the film's shooting will continue till August 15, according to schedule,” Birsa told Zee 24 Ghanta from Istanbul over the phone.

On the other hand, sources in Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s office said that the CM had spoken to officials in the Ministry of External Affairs to bring back the minister, artists and crew members back home safe.

Banerjee even spoke to Basu over the phone, asking about his well being, added the source.
