Actor Emraan Hashmi and young film director Mohit Suri on Saturday, criticised the Oscar nominated film Slumdog Millionaire alleging that the movie attempts to encash India's poverty.

The actor and director arrived here for the promotion of their film Raaz-The Mystery Continues.

Strongly criticising Slumdong Millionaire, they said that it has been a practice to sell India's poverty and when any foreign film maker makes such a movie, the general perception is that it must have been made with all sensitivity.

They said that noted music director AR Rehman has given classic and quality music for number of films, but it always happens that only those movies gets Oscar nomination that were produced by foreigner.

"Is it not a partisan attitude," Suri asked?

Hashmi said that though he has not seen the film, those who have watched it claimed that in Bollywood ten-times better films were produced on the same theme.

Slumdog Millionaire, directed by British filmmaker Danny Boyle, has won four Golden Globe awards and is nominated for Oscar in ten different categories.
