Hollywood actor Kevin Hart has given fans their first look at the new Jumanji sequel which is scheduled to hit cinemas next year.

Last month star Dwayne Johnson made it clear that the film would be a sequel to the 1995 children's classic, which starred Robin Williams, rather than a reboot as some had originally thought.

Posting a picture of himself and fellow cast members Johnson, Karen Gillan and Jack Black in full costume on Instagram, Hart wrote: "Day 1 of shooting "Jumanji" is officially in the can. We had a amazing first day. The chemistry & energy of our cast & crew was beyond amazing!!!! This movie is going to be dope as hell....Can't wait to get back to work tomorrow"

On his Instagram page, Johnson wrote: "EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: #JUMANJI Our dope 90's vintage costumes will all make sense when our plot's revealed. Truuuuuust me. The journey continues.. "Moose Finbar" (Kevin Hart). "Ruby Roundhouse" (Karen Gillan). "Professor Shelly Oberon" (Jack Black). "Dr. Smolder Bravestone" 'cause well.. he smolders. Hard workin' and FUN first day of shooting in the jungle with this talented and crazy motley crew. Jack is brilliant, Karen is bad assery, Kevin is sharply hilarious and I smell good. Extremely hard trying to keep a straight face in these scenes. Too funny. We're makin' a good one. More to come.. #JUMANJI #WishFulfillment #TheGameThatPlaysYou."

The film will also star Nick Jonas, in an as-yet-undisclosed role.

In August Johnson announced he had finally "found his girl" with the casting of Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan. The first look of the film drew a lot of criticism with questions raised about why she's wearing short clothes when all her male actors are fully dressed.

On Wednesday, Gillian replied to the concerns and assured fans it was with good reason.
