1. Kishore Kumar's real name was Abhas Kumar Ganguly.
2. It is said the inspiration behind the song 'Paanch Rupaiya Barah Aana' from Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi was the Rs 5.75 he owed to the canteen of his college in Indore.
3. Kishore Kumar did not have formal training in singing.
4. Kishore Kumar had put up a signboard saying 'Beware of Kishore' at the door of his Warden Road flat. When producer-director HS Rawail was visiting him to pay the money that he owed him, Kishore da reportedly bit his hands when Rawail offered a handshake and asked, "Didn't you see the sign?"
5. Kishore Da's unique style of yodelling was inspired by Jimmie Rodgers and Tex Morton. He yodlled for number of songs like 'Zindagi Ek Safar' from the movie Andaz, 'Chala Jata Hoon Kisi Ki Dhun Mein' from the film Haathi Mere Saathi and so on.
6. Kishore Kumar was an ardent fan of KL Saigal, Tagore and the Hollywood singer-actor Danny Kaye. He had hung portraits of these three icons at his bungalow Gaurikunj. Every morning Kishore Kumar used to bow down in front of their portraits.
7. His denial to endorse then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's 20-point programme lead to his ban on Vividh Bharti and All India Radio during the Emergency period of 1975-1977.
