Man abducted, robbed at gunpoint in cab in Greater Noida

A 35-year-old man was allegedly thrashed, robbed and abducted at gunpoint inside a cab by four unidentified men, including the driver and later thrown off the vehicle at Knowledge Park in Greater Noida on Thursday morning.

A 35-year-old man was allegedly thrashed, robbed and abducted at gunpoint inside a cab by four unidentified men, including the driver and later thrown off the vehicle at Knowledge Park in Greater Noida on Thursday morning.

The victim, Kumar Gaurav, an HR manager in Kota, had boarded the Swift Dzire car from sector 150's zero point around 6 am.

"I had come to Noida from Kota to celebrate Holi with my family. I got down from the bus at 6 am and started looking for an auto. A cab stopped near me and I boarded it to go to my house at Gaur City. Two people were already sitting in the front seat. After 500 metre, the driver picked up two more people" Gaurav said.

After travelling for a few minutes, one of the passengers pointed a gun at Gaurav and the other took out a knife and started threatening him."They covered my face with a cloth and thrashed me. Later, they checked my clothes and took my debit card. They stopped in front of an ATM and withdrew Rs 28,000 from my card. After loitering for around two hours, they threw me out of the car and took the sim card of my phone," the victim said.

A passerby helped the victim to make a call and he reached home around 9 am. A police complaint was made against four unidentified men.

"We have lodged an FIR against four unidentified people under section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the Indian Penal Code. We are yet to trace the number of the cab. We will also check the CCTV footages of the area to ascertain the claims," said Hansraj Bhadauriya, sation officer of Knowledge Park police station.
