The world of cricket witnessed an impressive shift in ICC rankings as Ruturaj Gaikwad, the dynamic opener for India in the Ireland series and also the captain of the Asian games squad, climbed 143 places in the T20I rankings. This rise came after his outstanding performance in the second T20I match against Ireland, where Gaikwad showcased his batting prowess by notching up a career-best score of 58 runs. His remarkable innings played a pivotal role in India amassing a total of 185 runs on the scoreboard.

In a significant leap, Gaikwad jumped up the rankings to claim the 87th position, having jumped an impressive 143 places. With the final T20I match of the series scheduled for Wednesday, August 23, Gaikwad is all set to make his presence felt once again on the cricketing stage. Additionally, Jasprit Bumrah, the ace fast bowler, made a significant move by climbing seven places to settle at the 84th position, a testament to his impressive comeback from an injury pause.

Shubman Gill, the India batter, marked his progress in the ICC rankings as well. He managed to secure the fourth position in the ODI batting rankings, despite facing some ups and downs in the 50-over format as the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup approached. Gill's efforts have earned him a rating of 743 points, establishing him as India's top-ranked batter in the latest ODI rankings released by the ICC after the opening ODI encounter between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Suryakumar Yadav, despite missing the Ireland series, maintained his stronghold at the summit of the T20I rankings for batters, a reflection of his consistent and impactful performances.

In the ODIs section, Pakistan's batting duo, Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq, secured the first and third positions respectively, with Rassie van der Dussen from South Africa occupying the space between them. Among the Indians, Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma held steady at the ninth and 11th positions respectively.

In the Test arena, the Indian spin duo, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja continued to reign supreme as the world's No. 1 bowler and all-rounder respectively.
As India prepares for a series of white-ball encounters, leading up to the much-anticipated ODI World Cup in 2023, the team's lineup includes engagements in the Asia Cup and a series against Australia. These fixtures will serve as a crucial build-up to the premier tournament scheduled for October and November.
