'Kyun hila dala na': Twitterati erupt as MS Dhoni returns to Indian team as mentor for ICC T20 World Cup 2021

BCCI secretary Jay Shah informed that the former Indian captain MS Dhoni will be with the Indian team as the mentor for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has returned to the Indian Cricket team after two years and will serve as the mentor of the side for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 and will work alongside head coach Ravi Shastri and the other members of the coaching staff.

Talking about the decision, BCCI secretary Jay Shah in the virtual press conference said, "I spoke to Dhoni in Dubai. He was okay with the decision and agreed to be a mentor for Team India for T20 World Cup only. I spoke to captain, vice-captain and Ravi Shastri also, they all are on same page."

Team India announced their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup with a couple of surprises as off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was recalled into the side as Washington Sundar is nursing a finger injury. While, the leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been excluded along with Shikhar Dhawan, who was captain of the side on the Sri Lanka tour.

The team has gone with the trusted trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami as part of the pace attack while the likes of Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are in the reserves, along with batsman Shreyas Iyer.

Team India squad for ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE and Oman: Virat Kohli(c), Rohit Sharma(vc), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant(w), Ishan Kishan(w), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami.

Reserves: Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur
