Punjab Kings pacer Arshdeep Singh took a five-wicket haul as he inspired his side's comeback into the game against Rajasthan Royals and restrict them to 185 after they were on course for a total in excess of 210 runs after the smashing opening partnership between Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal, followed by contributions from Liam Livingstone and Mahipal Lomror.

Lewis and Jaiswal were off to a flier in the powerplay bringing up a 50-run partnership in less than five overs as both batsmen took on the Punjab Kings' bowlers from the outset. However, Arshdeep bowling his first over in the last over of the powerplay put the breaks on their scoring getting Lewis to hit straight into the hands of the covers fielder.

Debutant Ishan Porel soon after sent back Rajasthan Royals' skipper Sanju Samson and it looked like innings started to fall off for the men in pink. But Jaiswal lifted it with a string of sixes off debutant Adil Rashid, which gave time for Livingstone to get a few balls in.

Livingstone started to explode with a four and a six off Arshdeep but a stunner on the boundary by Fabian Allen cut short his destruction. This wicket brought the surprise of the evening in Mahipal Lomror, who just took off and blew away Kings spinners.

He hit a couple of sixes off Rashid and 24 runs off Deepak Hooda, including two sixes and as many fours as Rajasthan Royals made up for a couple of quiet overs previously but what followed was a fantastic display of death bowling from Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep.

Shami dismissed Riyan Parag in the 17th over and removed Rahul Tewatia and Chris Morris in the 19th over before Arshdeep sent back Lomror, Chetan Sakariya and Kartik Tyagi as he notched up his first five-wicket haul in the IPL.
