Deepika Padukone is the owner and founder of her venture capital company KA Enterprises, which is aimed at investing in startup companies, taking them at a new height and building a profit through their multi-crore investments.
The Bollywood actress, who rose to fame through her debut film Om Shanti Om, set up the family office of KA Enterprises in 2014, and started making small investments in budding startups. Now, KA has become a major venture capital firm, with a turnover of crores every year.
While speaking to Business Today, Jigar K Shah, the fund manager at Deepika Padukone’s firm, said, “We run KA Enterprises like a typical venture shop. For DP, it's more of a gut-driven decision-making process. Whereas I do most of the meetings around business models, channel checks, and due diligence. She is the heart and I am the mind of KA.”
Helping small businesses grow, Deepika Padukone has now invested in multiple startups which are now well-established brands such as - Epigamia, Furlenco, Blu Smart, Bellatrix, Atomberg Technologies, Front Row, Mokobara, Supertails, Nua, and Purplle.
Apart from being a venture capital shark in the startup space, Deepika Padukone also helps businesses by investing crores in them and doubling up as their brand ambassador, which is the case with Epigamia and Nua.
The investments made by Deepika’s KA Enterprises range from Rs 3-5 crore cheques in the early stage, and as the business expands, the company also expands their profits. Till now, the venture capital business has made investments worth over Rs 200 crore, according to their website.
Deepika Padukone has a net worth of over Rs 500 crore, according to Live Mint, making her one of the richest actresses in Bollywood.
