Meet man who worked in Rs 5,77,000 crore company, now joins Byju’s in key role

Prior to joining Infosys in 2000, he had also worked with the Godrej Group.

Richard Lobo, a former senior executive of IT company Infosys, has joined edtech major Byju's to drive the company's human resource functions. Lobo joins Byju's after a 23-year career at Infosys, where he held various leadership roles, most recently serving as its executive vice president and head of human resources, the edtech firm said in a statement.

"I'm excited to take on this pivotal role and work closely with the team at Byju's to build on their achievements, and help transform the organisation to be future ready," Lobo said. Richard joined Infosys in 2000. The company has a market capitalisation of Rs 5,77,000 crore as of August 14, 2023. The share price of the company was Rs 1,392.95 on Monday.

Lobo headed the HR function at Infosys from 2015 to 2023, with his last day on August 31, 2023, MoneyControl reported. Before joining Infosys, he also worked at Godrej Group. He worked as Assistant Manager in Sales and Marketing department at Godrej and Boyce Mfg.

He worked there for five years from January 1996 - December 2000. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology (1989-1993). He also did PGDM in Marketing and Finance from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.

He is credited with bringing technology and analytics to the HR function as Infosys scaled to become a global leader in technology and consulting. Richard is an active contributor to publications and is a frequent speaker at industry events. He also advises academia on trends in business and human resources.

"His extensive experience and leadership in HR will be instrumental in further enriching our work culture and ensuring that the welfare of our team members remains at the core of every decision we take," BYJU's Founder and CEO Byju Raveendran said.
