Meet man who built Rs 4840 crore pharma company

Arun Kumar is the founder and promoter director of Strides Pharma Science, a pharma company he founded in 1990. Arun is a first-generation entrepreneur with an illustrious track record of pursuing 'difficult to operate' domains with high scarcity value.

Since its inception, Arun led the company in establishing a global reputation with a differentiated business model. The pharma company has a market capitalisation of Rs Rs 4840 crore as of September 25. The share of the company was Rs 539.70 on NSE. The company has its headquarters in Bangalore.

The company manufactures pharmaceutical products, over-the-counter drugs and nutraceuticals. Products include softgel capsules, hard-gel capsules, tablets and dry and wet injectables. The company's board has approved a scheme of arrangement among Strides Pharma Science, Steriscience Specialties and Stelis Biopharma, the drug firm said in a regulatory filing.

The arrangement will see the demerger of the CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organisation) and soft gelatin business of Strides into Stelis, it stated. It would also involve the demerger of the CDMO business of Steriscience into Stelis.

"We expect this company to be formed through the NCLT process in the next 12 to 18 months considering that there are multiple companies being merged and demerged into the structure," Strides Pharma Science Executive Chairperson and Managing Director Arun Kumar said.
