On Friday, the film 'Sooryavanshi,' starring Akshay Kumar, got off to a flying start at the box office. The film, which had a strong opening day with a total of Rs 26.29 crore nett, managed to keep its hold on Saturday.

According to early estimates on boxofficeindia.com, 'Sooryavanshi' performed admirably on its second day, grossing around Rs 24.50 crore. Because the film's release coincides with a major holiday weekend, the decline in box office receipts is estimated to be only 5-10%.

Following its Friday release, ticket sales in large multiplexes were said to be better on Saturday morning. The reopening of theatres in cities with a 50 per cent occupancy rule was another factor that assisted box office growth.

While most circuits are predicted to witness a little decline in box office receipts, the Mumbai circuit is expected to hold strong and retain its box office receipts as fans return to theatres after an 18-month lockdown.

With early estimates showing that the film has already surpassed the Rs 50 crore mark, it is predicted that it would easily cross the Rs 70-75 crore mark.

While 'Sooryavanshi' is guaranteed to hold strong over the weekend, it remains to be seen if it can maintain its momentum far into the week following the holiday period.

Despite the fact that trade experts forecast a significant decline in ticket prices at national multiplexes on Monday, the cop-action film is a definite blockbuster.
