Shahid Kapoor opened up about being compared to Shah Rukh Khan and also tagged as 'next Shah Rukh Khan' during his initial career. Shahid made his debut in Bollywood with the superhit romantic comedy-drama Ishq Vishk (2003), and his impressive dancing skills with chocolaty look earned him the tag of 'next SRK'.

While interacting with Pinkvilla, Shahid shared his views about the perception filmmakers had of him. Shahid acknowledged being compared to the successful actor Shah Rukh Khan, but he said, "It's the worst thing that can happen. Why should you be the next anything? You are you and they are they. And that is the worst part of the job that you are doing, that you must be like somebody who is already successful. If you are like them, by virtue of that, you will be successful in the future. This is the dumbest logic that I have ever heard in my life. You must be you because you cannot give the people what that person's giving. They have an independent, individual relationship with that person."

He further added, "As younger kids, you feel a lot of pressure because you feel that you must live up to that kind of a comparison. So you start shaping and moulding yourself in a manner which is based on the comparison as opposed to actually finding what lies within you, which is original and different, and which is essentially all you have to give. That's a very unhealthy thing which happens." In the conversation actor recalled how it felt like trying to be someone, he isn't and added that at times he used to feel like a fool. Thus he decided to create his own mark, rather than enjoying the comparison made with someone else.

On the work front, Shahid was last seen in the action thriller Bloddy Daddy. He will next be seen opposite Kriti Sanon in the untitled rom-com, the upcoming movie will release in cinemas on December 7, 2023.
