Kareena Kapoor Khan to play cop in Irrfan Khan's 'Angrezi Medium', producer Dinesh Vijan says 'it is for franchises'

Kareena Kapoor Khan has often appeared in cop franchises. She was the female lead in Ajay Devgn starrer Singham 2 and appeared in an item song 'Fevicol Se' in Salman Khan's movie Dabangg 2. The actress is now set to play a cop herself for the first time.

DNA After Hrs had previously informed you that Kareena Kapoor Khan might play a cop for the first time in Irrfan Khan's Hindi Medium sequel. The sequel is now titled Angrezi Medium, since the subject focuses on issues prevailing in English Medium schools.

Confirming the same, Dinesh Vijan told Hindustan Times, “Kareena is a great addition to our franchise! Angrezi medium is a very special film, and I’m excited that she’s going to be a part of it. We wanted to introduce this character who would be taken forward in the franchisees to come,and she’s perfect for it,” adding, “Here she plays a cop, a role she’s actually never done before! We will be shooting in London this June, and it will be great to be back on set with her.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan however recently revealed that she is not romantically paired with the actor. While the movie went on floors with Irrfan Khan long back, Kareena would join the crew in the London schedule which will take place in June.

The movie is being directed by Cocktail helmer Homi Adajania. Interestingly Homi has given Kareena's husband Saif Ali Khan few hits in Being Cyrus and Cocktail. Dinesh Vijan had also produced both the films. The producer, apart from Angrezi Medium, is also gearing up for Stree 2.
