It was reported on Monday that Nora Fatehi is replacing Jacqueline Fernandez as the female lead of Vidyut Jammwal’s upcoming sports-action film Crakk. The report stated that Nora will now star alongside Vidyut in the film, which the actor is also co-producing. The news generated quite a buzz as Nora and Jacqueline have a fraught history linked to the Sukesh Chandrashekhar case.

Now, sources from the industry have revealed to DNA how Jacqueline gave way to Nora in the film, which is being billed as ‘India’s first extreme sports film’. As per an industry source, “The film was originally being produced by Vidyut Jammwal himself as it is close to his heart. He was looking for partners and financiers, which is how a leading producer came on board, but it has not been officially announced yet. It was the production house that wanted Nora in the film as they have worked with her in the past and are more comfortable with her.”

While the source maintains that the parties have signed on the dotted line, neither Vidyut nor the production house have confirmed this development so far, let alone Nora coming on board for the film. Another source close to the production confirms that a ‘leading Bollywood production house’ has come on board for Crakk and there are changes in the principal cast but does not divulge any more details beyond that. Neither Nora, nor Vidyut have confirmed the reports so far.

Crakk had been announced earlier this year. Directed by Aditya Datt, the film also stars Arjun Rampal. Reports had stated that some portion of the film has already been shot, which is why the change of cast was surprising. In an interview to Pinkvilla in May, Vidyut had talked about Crakk and why it is special to him. “It's the first extreme sport film out of India, ever. And it is authentic and it's about the extreme sport athletes. So we have finished 60 percent of it,” he had said.

Jacqueline and Nora were once cordial and the former had even praised the latter on the sets of a reality show years ago. But their equation soured after both were linked to the Rs 200 crore extortion case connected to conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. Jacqueline, who Sukesh claims to be in a relation with, has been named a co-accused in the case while Nora has also been questioned. Nora even filed a case of defamation against Jacqueline for allegedly tarnishing her reputation. “They have called me a gold digger and accused me of having a relationship with a con artist Sukesh Chandrasekhar,” the actress had told the court earlier this month. Jacqueline’s legal team, meanwhile, had issued a statement about the suit calling it frivolous and baseless.
