Starring Saiyami Kher as a differently-abled cricketer and Abhishek Bachchan as her coach, the sports drama Ghoomer has hit the theatres this Friday. Even before the R Balki film has released, it got a stamp of approval from the famous cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, who was seen talking about the film in the video shared by the makers on Thursday.

In a long four-minute clip, Harsha started off by saying that he felt the twin emotions of excitement and unease before watching Ghoomer. Excitement because cricket was a familiar subject but unease because he didn't know how he would react to a movie in which he knew a lot of people involved in its making, including R Balki and Saiyami Kher.

Also expressing his apprehension, Bhogle stated, "I was also a little concerned about how the cricket would be shot. We've all seen sports movies where the emotion is built up, the drama is built up and then suddenly the sport starts and you say, yeah, they tried to teach the actor cricket but it's not working.Within the first ten minutes or so, that first fear was gone."

The cricket commentator also appreciated how R Balki has incorporated the tale of the Hungary's specially-abled shooter Karoly Tackas, who won two Olympic gold medals in the 25 meter rapid fire pistol event at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London and 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki with his left hand after his right hand was seriously injured due to a faulty grenade explsion.

Talking about Saiyami and Abhishek's performance, Harsha added, "It's not just Saiyami - who is a proper cricketer. She's an actor, but she's also a proper cricketer. She takes the character upto another level. I don't think that would've happened if she hadn't been a cricketer. Then there was Abhishek Bachchan. I think he lives the role of the coach. Sometimes you can have a coach who's trying to motivate a player, whether it's the hard way or the soft way, but sometimes the lines can appear a little straight out of a motivational lecture. I love the way Abhishek married the two into his character",

Concluding his thouts abou the film, Harsha said, "What I like about Ghoomer is that it is a story of hope. Sad things and unplanned things happen to people and the lines around that are very subtly woven. I like that there was no talking down about women's cricket. There was no talking down about so many other sensitive issues of the society. I liked the fact that from a cricketing point of view, the little anecdotes, the litte stories, the little connections, and the actual playing of the game is beautifully done."

Reacting to Harsha's review, Abhishek Bachchan took to his X (previously known as Twitter) and wrote, "@bhogleharsha, your take reaches me with the same impact as your delightful commentary. Thank you." Amitabh Bachchan, who also has a cameo in Ghoomer, shared his video on his Instagram and wrote, "My gratitude Harsha Bhogle ji, couldn’t agree with you more".
